BCL accuses attack from Khaleda’s motorcade

A case and a counter-case were filed on Thursday in connection with Wednesday’s attack on BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s motorcade in the city’s Banglamotor area that left 10 people injured.
BNP chairperson Khaleda’s adviser Abdul Quayum filed a case against 40-50 unnamed people with Ramna Police Station on Thursday morning.Ramna unit sports secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Babu Hasan filed a counter-case against 20-25 unidentified people with the same police station in the morning on charge of carrying out attack on BCL activists from the BNP chairperson’s motorcade.
On Wednesday afternoon, BNP chairperson’s motorcade came under attack yet again allegedly by ruling party men in the city’s Banglamotor area, leaving at least10 people, including her adviser Abdul Quayum and two personal security staff, injured.
A group of people, led by some Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders, including Moshiur Rahman Rubel and Mamum Ahmed, attacked the BNP chief’s motorcade with rods, sticks and brickbats around 5:20pm as it got stuck in traffic jam at Banglamotor crossing.
The attackers also beat up Khaleda’s security men and damaged their vehicles.
With the fresh one, Khaleda’s motorcade was attacked thrice for the third consecutive day. – UNB
