BCL activist held with weapons, Phensidyl in Chuadanga

Dhaka – Police arrested a local activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) along with sharp weapons and contraband Indian Phensidyl syrup from Akondabaria village of Sadar upazila on Monday night.The arrestee was identified as Sabbir Ahmed, 25, son of Abdul Khalek, a resident of Puratan Bazar area of Damurhuda upazila, and an honours first year student of the management department at Kushtia Government College, also a BCL activist of the college unit,UNB news agency reported.Tozammel Haque, officer-in-charge of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station,said a patrol team of police challenged him in the area around 9.30pm.Sensing danger, he tried to flee away.Later police arrested Sabbir and recovered two machetes and four bottles of Phensidyl after searching his two bags.
