Additional security measurements have been taken at Rajshahi
University (RU) campus to turn aside further untoward situation
following gunfight among Shibir, Chhatra League and Police.
Earlier on Sunday, activists of Chhatra League locked in a clash with
Islami Chhatra Shibir over establishing supremacy on the campus that
left three students bullet-injury including two Shibir leaders of the
university. A general student also received bullet injury.
Following the clash, no case has been filed. Even police did not
arrest anyone, Police sources said.
Campus sources said, leaders and activists of Chhatra League was rare
on the campus last two days while Shibir leaders and activists roaming
on the campus.
To avert further clash, additional cops have been deployed on
different points on campus fearing face-off between Chhatra League and
Shibir activists.
The bullet-hit three students are now out of danger. Among of them
Shibir leader Abu Sufian is under treatment at Rajshahi Medical
College Hospital under the custody of police.
Contacted, SM Abdus Sobhan, Officer-in-Charge of Motihar police
station told that additional law enforcers were deployed on the campus
adding several patrol teams of police were alert in different point on
the campus.
“No one has lodged any case yet till filing the report on 4:20pm”, OC
also added.
Police will take highest action to avert any untoward situation on the
campus, RU Proctor Prof Tarikul Hasan told.
Meanwhile, RU teachers association led by its president Prof Azhar Ali
met with the university vice-chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin on
Monday to investigate the incident.
