Bd anti-graft body demolishes four illegal brick kilns

Dhaka, Jan 20 – The Anti-Corruption Commission on Sunday demolished four illegal bricks kilns and freed 20 acres of farmland from the illegal occupants at Mujibnagar under Meherpur district. After getting the allegations of running bricks kilns illegally, the anti-graft body demolished the bricks kilns and freed the farmer lands through a drive with the assistant of magistrates, environment officials and police.
The drive was conducted following a direction given by Munir Chowdhury, ACC’s director general (admin) and coordinator of the enforcement teams. Md Lutfar Rahman, Deputy director of Kustia, supervised the whole drive.
Without taking certificates from the Department of Environment (DoE), the brick kilns owners running their business illegally polluting the environment. Mobile court Magistrate fined the brick kilns owners Tk 80 thousand after destroying their illegal business.
ACC’s director general Munir Chowdhury said that the commission conducted the drive after getting specific allegations on affecting the environment the brick kilns owners running their business illegally.
“The commission will continue such drive to eradicate the corruption from the society. We wanted to free the country from pollution,” he noted. – Staff Reporter
