Dhaka – A Bangladeshi peacekeeper was killed during a clash with local terrorists in Central African Republic on Thursday.The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahim, a soldier of Bangladesh Army and son of Abdul Mazed of Hajipur village in Sadar upazila of Satkhira district.
A patrol team, ‘BANBAT-3’, of the UN peacekeeping mission came under a gun attack by a group of local miscreants around 1:15 pm (local time) while performing their duties in the Central African Republic, said an ISPR release on Friday.
At one stage, army soldier Rahim was hit a bullet in the head and died on the spot, it said.
However, the criminals retreated as the Bangladeshi peacekeepers retaliated, the release said, adding that other members of the battalion were safe. – UNB
