BD to create 2.7 million new jobs in current fiscal

Dhaka – Planning minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said 27 lac jobs will be generated in the current fiscal year (FY2016-17).
“In every fiscal year, 20 lac new faces enter the job market. This time 6-7 lac jobs will be created outside the country. So these workers will go abroad and the rest of the employments will be created inside the country,” he said while briefing the reporters at NEC auditorium at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
However he said there is 29 lakhs unemployed in the country at this moment.
Mustafa Kamal said, “According to the World Bank’s calculation, the global economic growth will be almost 3 per cent on 2017.
It means that developed countries will be able to recover from a long recession he said.
As a result, the condition of our country will be better.
Expressing the hope of attaining 7.5 percent GDP growth in the current fiscal year, Mustafa Kamal today said Bangladesh is moving forward with all economic indicators in positive trend.
At this time the minister also expected that in private sectors, the growth of credit flow and production condition in industrial sectors and revenue growth will be better.
In a recently published report of World Bank on ‘Global Economic Prospects-2017,’ it is predicted that world’s economic growth will be 2.7 per cent in this current fiscal year. The organization forecasts that GDP growth of Bangladesh will be 6.8 per cent in 2016-17 fiscal year.
Mustafa Kamal said, “If remittance flow is reduced, it will not affect the GDP growth. Because while calculating GDP, income from remittance is not included.”
“The government has targeted 7.2 percent growth in the current fiscal. But the upward economic trend shows that the country is likely to achieve 7.5 percent economic growth.”
Though, the country’s economic growth is in positive trend, recently the inflow of remittances has come down, he said, adding that the government has been working relentlessly to identify the reasons. – Staff Reporter
