BGB-BSF chiefs’ conference starts Thursday

Dhaka  – A 5-day Director General-level conference between the Bangladesh and India border security agencies kicks off Thursday in Dhaka.A 21-member Indian delegation, led by the Director General (DG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) of India Shri KK Sharma, is scheduled to reach Dhaka on Wednesday morning to take part in the conference.The Indian team will include high officials of the headquarters of BSF, IGPs of BSF frontiers and representatives from their home and foreign ministries.Bangladesh will be represented at the conference by a 23-member team, led by the DG of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General Aziz Ahmed. Regional and sectoral commanders of BGB, deputy director generals of the border force and representatives from the home and foreign ministries comprise the delegation.Bangladesh side will try and emphasize ways to stop border killing, illegal movement of arms, explosives and drugs, as well as development activities in the areas between the two countries’ border outposts.The conference will end with the signing of the Joint Record of Discussion (JRD) on May 16, said Public Relation Officer (PRO) of BGB Mohsin Reza.Besides, a friendly Kabaddi match will be arranged between the BGB and BSF jawans at Pilkhana, the BGB headquarters, on Wednesday evening where Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan will present as the chief guest.(UNB)
