BGB sent back 96 Rohingyas through Teknaf and Ukhia

Dhaka-Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sent back 96 Rohingyas from Monday night to Tuesday morning as they were trying to enter Bangladesh through several border points of Teknaf and Ukhia upazilas.Lt Col Imran Ullah Sarkar, Commanding Officer of BGB Battalion-34 in Ukhia, said a team of his battalion pushed back 26 Rohingyas to Myanmar when they were trying to cross Gundum border point on Monday night.
Another team of BGB Battalion-2 of Teknaf sent back six boats, carrying some 70 Rohingyas on board, to Myanmar when the ethnic people were crossing the Naf River in the early hours in a bid to enter Bangladesh, said CO of the battalion Lt Col Abu Jar Al Jahid.
Thousands of Rohingya people, a Muslim minority of Rakhine state of Myanmar, have been fleeing their country amid persecution by Myanmar military and trying to enter Bangladesh illegally through a number of border points, including the Naf River.
