BGB top officials may get higher ranks

Dhaka – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday said the Boarder Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will get at least four helicopters as part of strengthening capacity building of the paramilitary force.
The Home Minister made the discloser in a commanders’ conference at BGB headquarters at Pilkhana here.Commenting about a proposal of Chittagong region BGB commander’s he said the proposal to procure four helicopters have already under consideration of the concerned Ministries. I hoped, the BGB will get the helicopters very soon, he added.
Replying to another regional commander’s proposal about upgrading ranks of BGB top officials, the Home Minister said the ranks of BGB’s top officials should be upgraded and the government is also planning in this regard.
Addressing the opening session of the commanders’ conference, Asaduzzaman praised BGB’s responsibilities in discharging their duties to protect country’s frontiers as well as maintaining law and order in the country alongside other law enforcing agencies.
He said the government has already taken a number of projects to develop of the force. The projects will be implemented by phases, he said.
In his addressed Senior Home Secretary Dr Mozammel Haque instructed the BGB members to strengthen its vigilance along Bangladesh-Myanmar Boarder to stop influx of Myanmar citizens into Bangladesh.
BGB director general Maj Gen Aziz Ahmed in his conclusion speech said the BGB is more trained and strong compared to in the past. Not only protecting frontiers, the force has proved its efficiency in maintaining internal law and order, he added. – News Desk
