Bhuban Majhi to be screened in two int’l film fests

Since its release on March 1, Bhuban Majhi has continued to enjoy a fair degree of success. The film already received a huge appreciation from the viewers in Europe, USA and Australia after it was screened in different film festivals. Now the film is going to be screened in another two international film festival in South Africa and India.

The director of the film confirmed that Bhuban Majhi has been selected to be screened in All Lights India International Film Festival. The film will be screened there on December 3. It will also be screened in Cape Town International Film Festival in South Africa.

Director Fakhrul Abedin said, “This is the first time that a Bangladeshi film has been selected to be screened in Cape Town Film Festival. I am really glad that my film has been selected.” The story of the film Bhuban Majhi revolves around a spiritual man, Baul Nohor Majhi living in Kushtia.

A journalist goes to Kushtia for making a documentary on Baul and comes in contact with Nohor Baul. Gradually the truth opens up and the journalist discovers that Nohor Baul was an active freedom fighter in the Liberation War of 1971.

The baul was inspired by a young girl from a respectable family in Bangladesh and her name is Farida. In the film Bhuban Majhi, Param-brata plays the role of Baul Nohor Majhi  and Aparna plays the character of Farida.
