Different government and non-government organisations extended their helping hands towards the cold-hit poor people in the district.
As cold wave has been sweeping over the district for a couple of days leaving poor communities in utter misery, different government and non-government organizations including the district administration have started distributing warm clothes with a view to saving people from biting cold.The district administration distributed 100 blankets at adibasi inhabited Jugidaing village under Jhilim union and Boupara, Jamaipara, Hatatpara villages under Baliadanga union in sadar upazila yesterday.Additional deputy commissioner of Chapainawabganj Dr. KM Quamruzzaman Selim distributed the blankets. Other officials of the district administration and journalists were also present during the distribution.On the other hand, Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) distributed blankets among poor freedom fighters and aborigine people of sadar upazila in a function held at the conference room of the deputy commissioner on the same day.During the distribution, additional deputy commissioner of Chapainawabganj Dr. KM Quamruzzaman Selim, zonal manager of RAKUB Rafiqul Alom Chowdhury and freedom fighter Golam Rabbani were present.Non-government organization Agriculture Sustainable and Socio Economic Development Organization (ASSEDO) distributed blankets among 80 people in Alatuli union in sadar upazila yesterday. The ASSEDO sources said they distributed 1,000 blankets in phases.Another non-government organization Grameen Bahumukhi Unnayan Sangstha (GBUS) also distributed 1,000 blankets in Chapainawabganj municipality and Panka and Durlavpur unions of Shibganj upazila of the district. –BSS, Chapainawabganj
