Blast rocks district court area

A litigant woman was injured in a cocktail explosion in the court area of old Dhaka during the BNP-led 18 party opposition sponsored blockade of Monday.
A cocktail hit Tanjeela Islam Shapla, 32, on her head at about 2.3 pm and she was rushed to the adjacent National Medical College Hospital, where the on duty physicians released her after first aid treatment. Local people detained rickshaw-puller Mamun in this connection and handed him over to the police.
Earlier, at 11am, two more cocktails were blasted on the entrance stairs of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court, however, none was injured in the later incident.
Before Monday, during the 18-party sponsored shutdown and blockade, four cocktails and a petrol bomb were exploded in the subordinate court area. Besides, police recovered two more unexploded cocktails from the area.
During the shutdown of October 27, a petrol bomb was exploded in the case docket (CD) unit of Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court causing emblaze of more than 200 under trial case dockets. – Court Correspondent
