Ahead of the 10th parliamentary elections, the Home Ministry on Monday asked all to deposit their legal firearms and ammunition to the nearest Police Station or the legal dealers by December 27. An official announcement, signed by Home Ministry Additional Secretary Main Uddin Khandakar, said the firearms owners will have to deposit their licensed arms and ammunition to the nearest police station or the legal dealers within the deadline. The arms and ammunition will be kept deposited till January 15, the notification said, adding that legal action will be taken against those who will violate the order. The embargo will not be applicable for the members of law-enforcing agencies, the announcement added. – UNB
