Blogger Shammi seeks police security

Blogger and Ganajagaran Manch activist Shammi Haque has filed a general diary (GD) with a police station in the capital, seeking security.

She lodged the GD with Mohammadpur Police Station on Friday, said officer-in-charge of the police station Jamal Uddin Mir.

In her GD, the 27-year-old blogger said she felt that her life is at risk as two unidentified young men followed her when she came out of her Lalmatia house on Thursday evening, the OC added.

Earlier on May 15 this year, blogger Niladri Chattopadhyay Niloy, who was hacked to death by miscreants in the city’s Khilgaon area on August 7, posted a status on his facebook account where he mentioned that two unidentified people were following him when he was returning home by a tempo.

Even on May 12, blogger Ananta Bijoy Das, also an activist of Sylhet Ganajagaran Manch, was hacked to death by a group of assailants in broad daylight at Subidbazar Bankalapara in Sylhet city.

Besides, barely one month after the killing of blogger Avijit Roy on February 26, another blogger, Washiqur Rahman Babu, was hacked to death by a group of assailants at Begunbari in the city on March 30.
