A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed former president of Chhatra Dal, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku on a two-day fresh remand, and Jatiyabadi Chhatra Dal central committee’s general secretary, Habibur Rashid Habid on a four-day remand in two separate cases filed with Ramna and Shahbagh Police Stations.Rejecting the bail pleas of Tuku, Magistrate MA Salam passed the order against him when police produced him to the court with 37 days’ remand plea.
Tuku is an accused in a case filed with Paltan Police Station under the Explosive Substances Act. On November 14, Dhaka’s CMM Court placed Tuku on 20 days’ remand.
Law enforcers arrested Tuku from in front of BNP’s central office at Nayapaltan on October 21.
On the contrary, police sought 37 days’ remand against Habib in two cases filed in connection with the incident of May 5.
On Wednesday, police produced Habib to the CMM Court on completion of one-day remand and sought 37 days’ remand in four cases filed with Ramna and Shahbagh Police Stations. After the hearing, Magistrate Keshob Roy Chowdhury granted four days’ remand in two cases filed over Hefajat’s incident on May 5. The court however, directed police to interrogate the accused at the jail gate in other two cases.
On Monday, the same court granted one day’s remand against Habib in a case filed for burning vehicle.
