Police in an overnight drive arrested 12 local activists of BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami from different upazilas of the district on Tuesday.
Police sources said separate teams of police arrested the 12 BNP and Jamaat activists—one of BNP from Muradnagar upazila and 11 of Jamaat from Sadar Dakhkhin and Chauddagram upazila—after conducting the drive separately in the areas from Tuesday evening to early Wednesday.Kamal Uddin, an officer of the district Special Branch (SB) of police, said the 12 were arrested on charge of vandalising vehicles and attacking police during the recent hartal enforced by BNP-led 18-party alliance. -UNB, Comilla
