BNP’s fresh action plan to secure release of Khaleda Zia

Dhaka, March 4 – The BNP will again stage programme of human chain and sit-in demonstration across the country demanding unconditional the release of chairperson Khaleda Zia. As part of the programme, the party will form human chain on March 6 and sit-in demonstration on March 8 in the city and elsewhere in the country.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the two days fresh programme at a press briefing at party’s central office at Naya Paltan in the city on Sunday.
He said both the programmes will be observed from 11:00am to 12:00pm throughout the country.
The BNP leader hoped that the government won’t obstruct us in holding the peaceful programme.
Earlier on February 12 and 13, the BNP observed similar programme demanding the release of former premier who has been sent in jail in graft case.
The BNP continues peaceful programme after a special court convicted Khaleda in Zia orphanage trust graft case for five years and sent her at old central jail at Nazimuddin Road in the city on February 8.
The last programme of the BNP was distribution of leaflet distribution on 1 March across the country demanding Khaleda’s release.
Besides, the party also observed different peaceful programmes, including leaflet distribution, countrywide demonstration, human-chain formation, sit-in, token hunger-strike, protest procession in five phases, demanding her release.
Rizvi accused the government of sending Khaleda to jail on a false and fabricated case to keep the chairperson out of the election process.
He reiterated that the there would be no election in the country keeping Khaleda in jail.
The BNP leader also criticized the Election Commission for allowing the prime minister to carry out election campaign violating the election code of conduct.
He also demanded playing a level playing field for the next general polls.
BNP leaders- Zahid Hossain, Khairul Kabir Khokan, Amirul Islam, MA Malek, Abdus Salam Azad, Belal Ahmed, among others, were present at the press conference. – Staff Reporter
