BNP calls Chittagong strike Sunday

BNP has called for a dawn-to-dusk strike in Chittagong district on Sunday protesting against the arrest of its leaders and activists, including party Chairperson’s Advisor Mir Mohammad Nasir and its central Organising Secretary Golam Akbar Khandker.BNP Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Noman on Friday announced the programme during the funeral prayers of those who had been killed during the 71-hour blockade. The prayers were held at Jamiatul Falah Jame Masjid.
Chittagong city, north and south Chittagong BNP will observe the strike, he said.
“I am declaring this programme in protests against the arrest of BNP leaders and activists and demanding their release, and stoppage of all the attacks and torture against the Opposition,” he said.
South Chittagong BNP President Jafrul Islam Chowdhury, among others, was present when the announcement was made. – bdnews24.com
