Bnp demands trial of Avijit killers, says, people will face ‘terrorism’

BNP yesterday strongly condemned the killing of blogger Avijit Roy and demanded of the government to bring the killers to justice through fair investigation.
“Killing of Avijit Roy in spite of full-proof security belt of police at Bangla Academy and TSC areas has proved that the government has failed to ensure security of people’s life and properties,” BNP Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed said in a statement ffrom an undisclosed location.
Salahuddin said the ongoing anti-government movement will continue until the demand for an inclusive election under a nonparty administration is met.
Citing police killing of a BNP leader’s son and shooting of his daughter and wife at Chirirbandar, Dinajpur, Bnp claimed people are forming “resist and movement” committees in their localities across the country in the backdrop of “state terrorism”.The statement said, it would not take much time to uproot the Awami League government with the huge
participation of grass roots in the movement although the government is expressing satisfaction to see movement of some vehicles on roads.
On the arrest of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Jahangirnagar University unit president Jakir Hossain and another JCD leader Mukul Kanti with handmade bombs recently, BNP said this was nothing but a “staged managed drama.”
Pointing to some “partisan” members of Rapid Action Battalion and Police, the statement said the present government is not the final one. Therefore “you will not be able to save yourselves from the hands of law by patronising the illegal government.” – Staff Reporter
