BNP denounces JCD president’s arrest

Dhaka – Opposition BNP on Friday strongly protested and condemned the arrest of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) president Abdul Kader Bhuiyan Jewel and its another senior leader, saying it has exposed the government’s politics of vengeance. In a statement, BNP acting secretary general and party joint secretary and spokesman Salauddin Ahmed said, “The current Awami League government is relentlessly oppressing the opposition leaders and activists, arresting them and implicating them in false and fabricated charges in a bid to establish its desired one-party rule forever.”
They also warned that if the government continues its growing repressive acts ignoring mass people’s demand for restoration of the caretaker government, it will only intensify the ongoing movement.
Fakhrul and Salauddin demanded unconditional release of the two JCD leaders and withdrawal of ‘false and fabricated’ cases against them.
