BNP leader Helal, 31 others on remand

Dhaka, 01 Feb – The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday placed BNP’s information affairs secretary Azizul Bari Helal and 31 others on remand in a case filed with Ramna Police Station. Magistrate Md Ahsan Habib passed the order on Thursday evening.The accused 31 were placed on a five-day remand while and Mujibur Rahman on a day’s remand. The remanded accused persons include Hassan Mamun, BNP executive committee member and former president of Dhaka University Chhatra Dal, Shantuno Islam Sumit, son of former Forest and Environment Minister Tariqul Islam, Farukul Islam Selim, Personal Secretary (PS) of BNP Chairperson's advisor Abdus Salam and Tejgaon College Chhatra Dal leader Hafiz Al-Mahmud.
Besides, the court rejected remand pleas for Mohila Dal leader Lutfun Nahar Lovely and Junu Begum.
Earlier, Md Saiful Islam Khan, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Detective Branch (DB) of Police and also the investigation officer of the case, sought a 10-day remand for every accused of the case. – Special Correspondent
