Police arrested a city unit leader of BNP from Khadimpara in Sadar upazila on Wednesday evening on sabotage charges.
The arrestee was identified as Ruhul Kuddus Chowdhury Hamja, also member secretary of the Sylhet city unit of Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Projonmo Dal.
Officer-in-charge of Shahparan Police Station Sakhawat Hossain said on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Ruhul at about 6:00 pm.
Ruhul was arrested for his suspected involvement in subversive activities, the OC added.
