BNP leader Major (retd) Mizan remanded

Dhaka – A court here on Wednesday put BNP central executive committee member Major (retd) Mizanur Rahman on a 2-day remand in a case filed for his ‘evil efforts’ to make Gazipur election controversial.Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mazharul Haq passed the order. The court also placed three other accused in the case- Shafiqul Islam, Md Jinnat and Md Asad Al-on a one-day remand each.

Sub-inspector of Detective Branch Arman Ali, also the investigation officer of the case, produced the four before the court and sought a seven-day remand for each of the accused.

Earlier on Monday night plainclothes police arrested Mizan from his Gulshan residence along with some electronic devices those he ‘planned to use to make the Gazipur election controversial’.

DB police filed a case against the arrestees under the Special Powers Act.UNB
