BNP not responsible for the murders

Senior BNP leader Nazrul Islam Khan has said his party “will not take responsibility” if any of its members is found to be involved with murder. His comments came hours after Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Tuesday said BNP’s central leader MA Kayum had “ordered” Italian Cesare Tavella’s killing in Dhaka on Sep 28 to create pressure on the government.Khan has blamed the government of “trying to implicate” BNP leaders with the murder of foreigners.“We’re a liberal democratic political party and don’t believe in murders,” he told the media on Wednesday. He said, “The BNP will not take responsibility for anyone if he is found guilty through proper investigation.”He alleged comments by ministers and MPs blaming the opposition for killings of the foreigners was “influencing” the investigations.“During her foreign tour, (Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina) said the BNP was involved with (Tavella’s killing),” he said.“Now, others are trying to implicate the BNP to back up her (Hasina’s) contention.”
