BNP takes up plan to mark Bhasani’s death anniversary

Dhaka, Nov 15 – BNP has taken a two-day programme to mark the death anniversary of a leader of the masses Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani with due respect.A committee, formed by the party, on observing Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani’s death anniversary worked out the programmes, said a press release on Wednesday.
The 41st death anniversary of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani, a great political leader of the nation, will be observed on Friday with various programmes.
As part of the programmes, a BNP delegation will place wreaths at the grave of Bhasani at Santosh in Tangail and offer fateha there on Friday morning.
Besides, the party’s Tangail district unit will arrange a discussion on Bashani’s grave premises in the morning. Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will speak at the programme as the chief guest.
BNP will also arrange a discussion at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in the capital on Sunday to mark the day.
Bhasani, popularly known as ‘Majlum Jananeta’, the leader of the downtrodden, passed away on November 17, 1976.
Bhasani was a popular leader in his fight against imperialism and oppression of Pakistani rulers. He led the historic Farakka March in 1976 to ensure Bangladesh’s just rights to the share of the Ganges River water. – UNB
