Dhaka, Nov 15 – Opposing the Chief Election Commissioner’s (CEC’’s) remark about army deployment in the next polls, BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Wednesday said KM Nurul Huda is ‘singing the song composed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’.
“Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukdar has said army will be deployed and EVMS won’t be used in the next polls. But, the CEC expressed the different opinion the following day. Because, he (Huda) is talking as per the directive of the Prime Minister Office,” the BNP leader said.
Speaking at a discussion, he also alleged that Huda, as a man of Jantar Manch, was made the CEC work for Awami League.
Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas) arranged the programme at Kochi-Kacha Building auditorium at the city’s Segunbagicha, marking ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’.
Mentioning that an artist sings a song of a composer, Rizvi said Sheikh Hasina is a composer and the CEC is her artiste. “The CEC sings the song composed by Sheikh Hasina. It’s their unwritten deal.”
Earlier in the day, Nurul Huda said Commission is not ready to use electronic voting machines (EVMs) in the 11th parliamentary elections.
He also they did not finalise their decision yet on army deployment in the next polls.
Rizvi said most parties and organisations joined the dialogue with the EC opposed the use of EVMs and recommend deploying army in next the polls. “It’s natural that the Prime Minister does not like the proposals as she wants a Feni-style election to stuff ballots at night before the balloting.”
About Chief Justice SK Sinha’s resignation, the BNP leader said he has been forced to quit as the Prime Minister got aggrieved at him for annulling the 16th constitutional amendment.
Rizvi urged the leaders and activists of Jasas to be vocal and save the country from the aggression of bad culture. – UNB
