‘Bnp to be in city elections if atmosphere is congenial’

Leader of the Shoto Nagorik Committee Prof. Emajuddin Ahmed said on Friday that the Bnp would take part in the city corporation elections of Dhaka and Chittagong if a level playing field and congenial atmosphere was created for the same.
He was talking to journalists at Gulshan after a 2-hour meeting with Bnp chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia at her office. Prof. Emajuddin Ahmed was accompanied by Supreme Court Bar president Khandakar Mahbub Hossain, Prof. Mahbubullah of Dhaka University, DUJ president Abdul Hye Sikdar, and senior journalist Mahfuzullah among others.Meanwhile, the convener of Bnp Dhaka city unit Mirza Abbas collected nomination forms to contesting as candidate for the post of mayor of Dhaka City South.
In Chittagong Mayor Manjurul Alam has collected nomination form after tendering his resignation on Friday.
Bnp central leader Abdullah Al-Noman on the day said that the condition of April 28 will be like that of January 05 of 2015 when the parliamentary election was organised. – News Desk
