Bnp to fight case against Shafiq Rehman legally, Politically

The BNP has decided to face the case of elderly journalist Shafik Rehman who has been arrested in connection with a “conspiracy to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy” both politically and legally.
The decision has been taken at a meeting of party senior leaders held with chairperson Khaleda Zia in the chair.The meeting held at chairperson’s Gulshan office also formed a team led by party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to enquire details about the ruling party allegation against the pro-BNP intellectual.
“The team will prepare the party’s position after collecting all necessary documents and information within a couple of days” says standing committee member preferring to anonymity.
He said the after the receiving details about Rehman and will make public the party position about him through a press conference.
The leader said the matter will be taken into consideration since Rehman is also a British citizen and the ruling party leaders advised to ask the FBI.
Another leader said the chairperson listend the views of the fellow colleagues patiently and suggested them to face the issue politically.
The party leaders opined that the government arrested Shafik Rehman with a political motive to avoid the peoples attention from Bangladesh Bank reserve heist.
He said the party may announce programme like demonstration on Shafik Rehman issue after collecting necessary information.
