BNP welcomes Chinese President’s visit to Dhaka

Dhaka-Claiming that its founder Ziaur Rahman had initiated Bangladesh’s ties with China, BNP on Wednesday welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit here.“Ziaur Rahman had played the pivotal role in building the ties with China and began the diplomatic relations with the country,” said BNP vice chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu.
Dudu, now acting as the party spokesman, further said, “The Chinese President is coming to visit Bangladesh. On behalf of BNP, we welcome his tour.”
The BNP leader came up with the remarks while speaking at a milad mahfil at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, marking the holy Ashura.
The holy Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), is being observed across the country with due religious solemnity.
The Chinese President is scheduled to arrive here on Friday morning on a 22-hour state visit.
The visit is taking place three decades after Chinese President Li Xiannian visited Bangladesh in March 1986.
