The BNP-backed Lutfar Rahman has won the mayoral elections to newly constituted Kaliganj municipality of Gazipur district.Returning Officer and Kaliganj Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Kamru Ahsan Talukder announced the results on Thursday night.
Rahman running with the symbol ‘spectacle’ bagged 16,244 votes, twice as much his nearest rival the Awami League-backed Amzad Hossain’a 8,406 votes.
