Dhaka, Dec 25 – Bangladesh Sadharon Chhatra Odhikar Songrokkhon Parishad yesterday demanded the resignation of the Dhaka University’s proctor AKM Golam Rabbani for his what they alleged that he has directly help the perpetrators to disappear the CCTV footage of the attack and vandalism on Dhaka University VP Nurul Haq Nur and his associates on Sunday.At a press briefing, Md Rashed Khan, a leader of Bangladesh Sadharon Chhatra Odhikar Songrokkhon Parishad said that Golam Rabbani, proctor of the university should resign from his post as he helped the perpetrators.
Aaccusing proctor Rabbani, he said: “I have tried to contact over phone with the proctor for at least 10 times after the attack but he responded only thrice and slanged on me.
“He intentionally paved the way of attack and the CCTV footages are gone under his patronization with the help of university unit Chhatra League, he added.
Contacted, proctor Rabbani said–“He should have deliver his speech to the probe body as the university authorities have formed one.”
Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal yesterday said that action will be taken against the perpetrators after being monitored the CCTV footages of the attack and vandalism on Dhaka University VP Nurul Haq Nur and his associates.
“No one will be speared. Police will find them after monitoring the CCTV footage and action will be taken against them,” he said.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Shafiqul Islam yesterday said attempts are underway to recover the missing CCTV footage of the attack and vandalism on VP Nurul Haq Nur and his associates.
Responding to a query of what action should be taken against those who were seen in a state of turmoil during the attack on Nur, the DMP chief said, “Being in a state of turmoil and participating in the scuffle is not same.”
“There have been cases. The accused will be arrested on the basis of evidence,” he also said.
The DMP Commissioner said that action will be taken if the evidence against the accused in VP Nur’s case is found. “The matter is under investigation.”
Regarding the security of Christmas, Shafiqul Islam said strict security measures have been taken around the capital. “There is the possibility of sabotage,” he added.
Howevr, Protesters have demanded the arrest of DU chapter Chhatra League president Sanjit Chandra Das and general secretary and Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) AGS Saddam Hossain in connection with the attack on students. Otherwise they threatened to go on tougher movements.
Rashed Khan also the joint convenor of Bangladesh Sadharon Chhatra Odhikar Songrokkhon Parishad said—“After being a student of Dhaka University, we have been subject to repeated attacks. But we are not getting justice. So far, only three people have been arrested in connection with the attack. All those arrested have been leaders of the Muktijoddha Mancha.
However, BCL president Sanjit and general secretary Saddam led the attack. They have not been arrested yet. Therefore, unless they are arrested and brought under the law, the movement will gain tougher.”
He further said, “No immediate case could be made as we were injured. The police did not inform us before the case.Therefore, we demand that our complaint be taken as a case.”
The joint convener of the parishad, injured Tuhin Farabi, has been taken to a high-dependency unit (HDU). The hospital’s director, Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin, said the information. Earlier, he was shifted to the cabin on Tuesday due to devolaping physical condition.
The hospital director also said that “Farabi was transferred from the ICU to the cabin. But he was also suffering from shortness of breath due to the pressure from the extra visitors there. In view of these issues, he has been transferred to HDU. But he is fine. He can walk to the toilet by yourself.”
On the other hand, another joint convener of the BGSRC A P M Shuail, who were thrown from the two-storey DUCSU building at the day of attack still remains unconscious.
He was sent in intensive care unit (ICU) Tuesday night after a successful surgery on his head.
DMCH Deputy Director Dr Abdur Rahim said, “Suhail’s surgery has been successfully completed, he is fine. He was placed in the observation ward.”
In a briefing to inform the condition of the injured in the conference room of the hospital on Tuesday afternoon, doctors said that the condition of four people, including VP Nur, was in good condition. However, Suhail is not out of danger.
Professor Dr. Rajiul Haque of the department of Neurosurgery said, “There are fractures, pain in the waist and swelling in the eyes. As a result, he is not out of fear. ”
However, Nur’s condition was better than before, said hospital director Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin. He says, ‘Noor is talking, walking. He is free from fear.”
“Sooner everyone will be released from the hospital,” he added.
On Sunday afternoon, Chhatra League and Muktijoddha Mancha activists attacked Vp Nur and his associates with rods, sticks and stamps. At least 30 people, including some students from Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University and some colleges, were injured in the attack. – Staff Reporter
