Bomb attack on Shia community was pre-planned

Dhaka Metropolitan Police(DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia on Saturday said the bomb attack on Shia community people in Old Dhaka is a sabotage.
“It’s a sabotage and carried out in a planned way,” he told reporters after visiting the spot at 3:30 am.

“Those who were involved in the killing of ASI Ibrahim in the city carried out the bomb attack at Huseni Dalan. Anti-liberation forces are involved in the incident as they want to destabilise the country to save war criminals,” he said after visiting the victims at the DMCH at 9 am.

Bomb blasts at Huseni Dalan just hours before bringing out a Tajia procession by the Shia community marking the holy Ashura left a teenage boy dead and over 80 people injured early Saturday.

“We don’t see any militant link in the incident. The handmade bombs which were recovered from the spot today have similarity with the bombs recovered in a drive after the killing of ASI Ibrahim,” the DMP Commissioner said.

Ibrahim, assistant sub-inspector of Darus Salam Police Station Ibrahim, was stabbed to death by a miscreant in Gabtali bus terminal area on Thursday night.
