Boro cultivation going on in full swing in C’nawabganj

Transplantation of Boro seedlings has begun in all the five upazilas of the district during the current Boro season amid much enthusiasm of the farmers.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said a total of 46,933 hectares of land have been brought under Boro cultivation in the district with the production target of 1,81,520 tonnes of rice.DAE sources said of the total, some 11,237 hectares of land have been brought in Sadar upazila, 9,460 hectares in Shibganj upazila, 13,906 hectares in Gomostapur upazila, 6,940 hectares in Nachole upazila and 5,390 hectares in Bholahat upazila.Deputy Director of DAE Abul Kalam Azad said, cultivation has been going on in full swing and there is no shortage of Boro seedlings in the district.The Deputy Director also said the local DAE provided fertilizers, insecticides and other necessary agriculture inputs to the farmers. -BSS, Chapainawabganj
