A five-year-old boy who was kidnapped from Sylhet was rescued in the
capital on Friday evening, a day after his kidnapping.
The victim was identified as Shuvo Kumar Das, 5, son of Rubel Kumar
Das of Gotatika under Moglabazar Police Station.
Quoting family members, police said Faruk Ahmed picked Shuvo up from
outside their house at Taru Mia Colony of Gotatika area on Thursday
noon.
Faruk then demanded a ransom of Tk 1 lakh from the father of the
victim over mobile phone for his release, and instructed him to send
the amount though mobile money transfer services.
Members of Sylhet Metropolitan Police tracked the kidnapper’s mobile
phone and caught him from Shah Ali Mazar area of Mirpur in Dhaka on
Friday evening.
Earlier, on Thursday night, Rubel Kumar filed a kidnapping case with
the Moglabazar Police Station. -UNB, Sylhet
