Boycott corrupt people in election: Gono Front

Gono Front on Saturday called upon all quarters to boycott corrupt people in the forthcoming general elections and get united to turn Bangladesh a welfare state.Md Zakir Hossain, chairman of the organisation, made the call while addressing an iftar mahfil at a city hotel.
The Gono Front leader also urged the political parties to reach an agreement for the sake of holding a free and fair election.
Zakir Hossain, who presided over the function, called upon the people to cast their votes during the national elections in favour of honest and eligible candidates.
The function was also addressed, among others, by Barrister Md Akmal Hossain, adviser of the organization, Advocate Ahmed Ali Sheikh, secretary general, Brig Gen (Retd) Noor-us-Salam and Dr Prof Sheikh Abdul Hay.
Leaders of different political parties, including former lawmaker MA Jabbar, businessmen and representatives of Indian and Pakistan High Commissions—Brig. PC Thimmaya and Brig. Shahjad Naim Khan respectively were present on the occasion. – Staff Reporter
