Brac varsity student killing: drivers put on remand

Dhaka, April 28 – Covered van driver Anis, who allegedly crashed Brac University student Fahmida Haque Labannya under wheel and uber motor-cycle rider Sumon were on Sunday put on remand in the case filed in connection with the killing of Labannya.
Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the orders after hearing yesterday. Anis was placed on 4 days’ remand while Sumon on a two-day remand.
The two accused are-covered-van driver Anisur Rahman and uber motor-cycle rider Md Sumon Hossain. Earlier, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station SI Md Nurul Islam produced them before the CMM Court with a seven-day remand plea for each accused.
Fahmida Haque Labannya, 21, a 3rd year student of Computer Science and Engineering department of the university was in Sumon’s bike in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area. Sumon was on the steering of the bike.
Meanwhile, the students of Brac University staged a human chain in Mohakhali area on Saturday morning and demanded exemplary punishment of the accused persons. – Court Correspondent
