Dhaka – The visiting British parliamentary team will meet BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Friday.Six British lawmakers, led by Anne Main, will meet Khaleda at her Gulshan residence around 6pm, BNP chief’s press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel told UNB on Thursday.
British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert W Gibson will also be present at the meeting.
Party sources said the issues relating to the next election and RMG will be high on the agenda of the meeting.
Meanwhile, two members of the British MPs, — Bangladesh-born Rushanara Ali and Pakistan-born Shabana Mahmood — met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban on Thursday evening.
The British MPs are also scheduled to hold meetings with Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus, some other high-profile politicians and civil society members during their weeklong visit to Bangladesh.
They are also likely to visit several apparel factories to observe the working conditions there.
The visiting delegates are members of All–Party Parliamentary Group of the UK.- UNB
