BSF shoot down Bangladeshi cattle trader

Dhaka-A Bangladeshi cattle trader was shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force shot dead at Putkhali border under Benapole port police station in Jessore early Saturday, Lieutenant Colonel Arifur Rahman, commanding officer, 23 Border Guard Battalion said.The dead was identified as Shahidul Islam, 32, son of Sadek Ali of Putkhali village under Benapole port police station.
The BGB CO told newsmen that the cattle trader died on the spot as the BSF of Angrail camp on the Indian side fired gun shots at a number of cattle trader indiscriminately while they were coming towards their residence after buying cattle on Saturday dawn.
The BSF threw the body to the River Ichhamati after the incident.
Benapole port station police sent the body to Jessore General Hospital for post mortem examination after recovering it from the river, police said.
Border Guard Bangladesh protested the matter. Panic griped Benapole land port after the incident. -Special Correspondent.
