BSTI fines four bakeries in capital Tk 1.4 lakh

In a mobile court drive in the capital, the BSTI fined four companies Tk 140,000 for using textile dye and substandard fragrance in producing bread, biscuits, cake and chanachur.   The BSTI, in cooperation with the district administration, conducted the drive led by executive magistrate Amitabh Parag Talukder, says a BSTI press release. The drive was conducted in four factories in Khilgaon and Goran areas of the city. The four factories are Fahad Bread and Biscuit Factory; Fresh Al-Amin Bakery; Super Star Bakery; and Satata Bakery.   The mobile court fined the owner of Fahad Bread and Biscuit Factory M Alamgir Hossain and the manager of Fresh Al-Amin Bakery M Ismail Tk 20,000 each.   It imposed fine of Tk 70,000 on the owner of Super Star Bakery Abul Kalam Shah and Tk 30,000 on the manager of Satata Bakery M Abu Siddiq.   The mobile court gave three months’ jail to all the four offenders if they fail to pay the fine.   It seized all substandard materials from the defaulting bakeries and gave them one month’s time to improve their condition. – UNB
