Bumper Boro production likely in Narsingdi

The farmers have cultivated Boro in 2.5 percent more land in the district this season then the target fixed by the Department of Agriculture Extension.The crop is growing excellent under favourable climate conditions expecting a bumper production.Officials of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said the crop fields are now in deep greener eye-catching looks everywhere as the Boro plants are growing excellent. The enthusiastic farmers have engaged in all-out efforts in making the Boro farming programme successful.The farmers have finally brought 56,070 hectares of land under Boro farming against the target 54,710 hectares fixed by the DAE this season.They said if the climate remain favourable till the production of paddy will be exceeded then the fixed target of production 1,62,000 tonnes of rice this year.DAE sources said, government has provided quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and agriloan to farmers. -BSS, Narsingdi
