Due to favourable weather potato production in the district has exceeded the production target in the current Robi season.According to Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Office sources a total of 90,008 tonnes of potato has produced on 4,283 hectares of land against the production target of 83,300 tonnes from 4,265 hectares.DAE office said, favourable weather, using of balance fertilizer and in absence of cold injury farmers in the district have got the yield.According to upazila wise breakup of production of potato is as follows: 18,410 tonnes in Jamalpur sadar upazila, 9,969 tonnes in Sarishabari upazila, 5,430 tonnes in Melandah upazila, 11,270 tonnes in Islampur upazila, 6,244 tonnes in Dewanganj upazila, 7,885 tonnes in Madarganj upazila and 30,800 tonnes in Bakshiganj upazila. -BSS, Jamalpur
