Farmers are expecting bumper production of winter vegetables cultivated in the district during this Rabi-1 season.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said plenty of winter vegetables have already flooded local markets. Traders and their representatives are seen busy in the markets and other places for purchasing and transporting vegetables to other parts of the country.
DAE sources said a total of 6,034 hectares of land were brought under the cultivation with the production target of one lakh tonne of vegetables.
Vegetables farming is becoming more popular here as farmers are showing further interests in cultivating all varieties of vegetables, DAE office sources said.
Agriculture related organisations took adequate steps and timely supplied quality seeds, other agri-inputs and necessary training and technical assistances to the farmers as per direction of the government.
