Bumper summer vegetables output expected in Narail

Farmers and crops specialists of the district Agricultural Extension
Department (AED) are expecting over 35,140 tonnes of summer vegetables
would be produced in three upazilas of the district during the current
season.
District Agriculture Extension Department (DAED) sources said, a total
of 1,455 hectors of land were brought under the cultivation with the
production target of 20,370 tonnes of vegetables in Sadar, Lohagora
and Kalia upazilas of the district this season.
But, the farmers could bring 2,510 hectors of land under the vegetable
cultivation exceeding it’s cultivation target by bringing additional
1,055 hectors of land, the sources said.
Meanwhile, the farmers have started harvesting different varieties of
summer vegetables including ladies finger, basil, bottle guard, white
guard, sweet guard, arum, arum thus, cucumber, brinjal Jhinga, Karola,
Borboti, Puishak, Lalshak and patol and selling these to the markets,
the sources added.
Deputy Director of DAED, Narail, Chabi Hari Das quoting the official
reports of crop specialists and field-level officials said that over
35,140 tonnes of summer vegetables are expected to be produced in the
district if there is no climate hazard.
