Bus afire in city, 30 activists held for ‘sabotage plan’ in Satkhira

Police in an overnight drive arrested 30 people, including eight leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, from different places of Satkhira district on Friday for their suspected plan to carry out sabotage during the ongoing BNP-led 20-party alliance-sponsored blockade.
Police sources said they in separate drives arrested 30 people in connection several cases filed for conspiring to carry out subversive activities.Sub-inspector Kamal Hossain, district police information officer, confirmed thearrests.
Meanwhile, miscreants set a bus afire at Tantibazar in the city on Friday, the 25th day of the nonstop countrywide blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
Witnesses said a group of miscreants set fire to the bus of ‘Victor Paribahan’ at Tantibazar intersection around 8:28 am.
On information, a fire fighting unit rushed to the spot and doused the fire. However, no casualty was reported.- UNB
