Career development in banking job

Now-a-days many graduates including agricultural graduates are taking up banking job to develop their professional career plus to earn income to lead a dignified life in the society. But some Banks particularly in the private sector do not maintain a well-defined system to help temporarily appointed fresh officers to get their job permanent. The other day I was going through an appointment letter of a reputed private Bank issued to one of our graduates. I was little surprised to note that most of the clauses of the agreement letter were directed towards protection of the Bank’s interest but no mention when the temporary appointee will be made permanent. In fact, there’s no probation period. Only a consolidated salary less than the salary given to an agriculture graduate at first appointment in a government job have been offered. Even deductions like income tax, etc are being made from this meager salary. These temporary officers work even on weekly holidays and beyond normal office hours without any incentive.
The Government has recently announced a new national pay-scale offering handsome salary and allowances to all levels of employees. I think, the private Banks should offer better salaries to the fresh officers and career lifting opportunities to encourage young graduates to take up banking profession and to retain them in the same.
