Dhaka, June 6 – A Dhaka court yesterday deferred the submission of investigation report in the case over the alleged sexual harassment of college student on March 7, to July 5.
Magistrate Loskor Sohel Rana of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka passed the order as the investigation officer, who is also a Sub-Inspector of Ramna Model Police Station, Shafiqul Islam could not submit the report on Wednesday. Earlier, on May 16, the same could be fixed June 6 for submission of the report.
The First Information Report-FIR of the case says that a meeting of the ruling Awami League was held at Sohrawardi Uddan of the city. On behalf of Awami League, Juba League and Chhatra League, the leaders and activists came to the meeting in processions. On the occasion, a college student allegedly became the victim of sexual harassment by a young man in one of the processions.
Later, her father filed the case with Ramna Model Police Station. 15-20 unidentified persons were made accused under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Ordinance. On March 9, the court ordered for investigation of the incident. – Special Correspondent
