Famous actors and musicians stepped out of their sets and studios to join the world cup festivities that started on May 30 and will continue till July 14. From Mick Jagger and Ed Sheeran to Jaya Ahsan and Ranveer Singh, everyone cheered their respective teams in England during the group stage. Actor Stephen Fry was seen enjoying the match with former Prime Minister David Cameron, Damien Lewis sat by Muse frontman Matt Bellamy at one point, and Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton was spotted in red and green cheering our tigers.
The Rolling Stones
The Rolling Stones’ singer Mick Jagger and drummer Charles Robert Watts watched a match between India and Australia at the Oval in London on June 9. We wonder which team the British band was there to support. Back in April, the band attracted media frenzy, as it rescheduled its North American tour for Jagger’s undisclosed health problems.
Jaya Ahsan
Actors Jaya Ahsan, Fazlur Rahman Babu and Ashna Habib Bhabna accidentally met at Lord’s Cricket Ground on July 5 when they all went to see the Bangladeshi match against Pakistan. Jaya had attended the opening ceremony of Cricket World Cup 2019 as a representative from Bangladesh. The actor recently played a speech therapist in the Kolkata film ‘Kantho’ that has been running successfully in West Bengal theatres for two months now. Last month, she won the Best Actress award at the Tele Cine Awards 2019, Kolkata, for her role in ‘Bijoya.’
Ed Sheeran
Singer Ed Sheeran and Muse frontman Matt Bellamy were seen enjoying the match between England and Australia at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on June 25. Sheeran released two new songs this week- ‘Blow’ and ‘Best Part of Me’- from his upcoming album ‘No 6 Collaborations,’ which is due to be released on July 12. The British alt rock band, Muse, is currently touring in Europe with their latest album ‘Simulation Theory’ (2018).
Ranveer Singh
Indian actor Ranveer Singh was spotted during the India-Pakistan match at Old Trafford in Manchester, on June 16. The actor plays Kapil Dev in his upcoming film ’83. He posted on Instagram the first look of the film on his 34th birthday yesterday, saying: “On my special day, here’s presenting THE HARYANA HURRICANE… KAPIL DEV.”
