Charge hearing against Barrister Mainul Nov 29

Dhaka, Nov 13 – Charge hearing against former Caretaker Government Adviser and former Supreme Court Bar Association President Barrister Mainul Hosein will be held at the Cyber Tribunal (Bangladesh), Dhaka on November 29 in the case filed under the Digital Security Act for using allegedly abusive language against journalist Masuda Bhatti. On Tuesday, Judge Mohammed Ash-shams Joglul Hossain of the Cyber Tribunal fixed the date for hearing on whether the charge-sheet will be accepted or not.
Gulshan Police Station Inspector and Investigation Officer of the case Aminul Islam submitted the charge-sheet on November 8, after 16 days investigation. On Tuesday, the charge-sheet was sent to the Cyber Tribunal (Bangladesh), Dhaka from the CMM Court.
During a television talk show, last month the senior advocate Barrister Mainul Hosein allegedly called Masuda Bhatti “Characterless.”
Earlier, on November 1, police produced Barrister Mainul in the court for the hearing. After hearing, the court set November 29 for next hearing in the case.
The instant case was filed with the Cyber Tribunal under the Digital Security Act on October 24 against the senior advocate.
Later, the tribunal Judge ordered the respective Police Station to treat the appeal as a First Information Report (FIR).
Sumona Akter Lily, a member of the Awami League Sub-Committee for Youth and Sports, filed the case. “The case has been filed under the Sections 25(2) and 29 of the Digital Security Act,” Lily told newsmen.
Barrister Mainul has been facing scorers of cases in different places of the country. Of those, one was filed in a Rangpur Court and the eminent lawyer is in jail custody there. – Special Correspondent
