A five-month-old girl died allegedly after taking date expired polio vaccine at Sonapur village under Singra upazila in the district on Saturday.Deceased Masura Akter, daughter of Mizanur Rahman of the village, was in sound health before taking the vaccine, claimed the parents.Dr. Rafiqul Islam, Civil Surgeon in Natore said Masura might have died of other disease as it was the third stage of the polio vaccine.Health assistant of Sonapur community clinic Abdur Rahim and community healthcare provider Selim Hossain gave Masura the vaccine around 10:30am.Rahima Begum, Masura’s grandmother said that the child was playing in the yard right before he was given the vaccine.The father of the victim echoed the same claim that she was not suffering from illness of any sort.A five member team of Natore Civil surgeon Dr. Rafiqul Islam, SMO of World Health Organisation Dr. Asad, District EPI supervisor Rezaul Karim, child specialist Asadul Haq Dulal and Singra upazila health officer Anjumanara Begum visited the victim’s house around Sunday morning. -Our Correspondent
