AL lawmaker Moni ordered ousted from court room

Syed Monirul Islam Moni, ruling Awami League lawmaker for Barisal-2 (Banaripara-Uzirpur) constituency was ousted by the court allegedly trying to get favour by using name of Law Minister on Sunday.Witnesses said lawmaker Moni talking over mobile phone entered the court while it was in session on Sunday noon identifying himself as an AL lawmaker and asked Md. Zahidul Kabir, additional chief judicial magistrate, to attend the call of Law Minister through his (Moni’s) mobile phone.The magistrate, feeling embarrassed, asked to Moni go out from the court room as trial of cases going on.When police guards of the court room requested Moni to go out, he engaged with altercation with police guards.Another AL lawmaker for Barisal-1 and district AL secretary Advocate Talukdar Md. Yunus, who was attending the court, after becoming aware about the incident interfered in the matter and controlling the situation took Moni outside the court room.The magistrate told Moni that it was not possible to attend any mobile call whike on duty of trial cases in court and asked Moni to leave the court room, Advocate Yunus said.Monirul Islam Moni told he visited district judge first and the acting chief judicial magistrate to talk about schedule of a proposed visit of law minister.While tried to connect law minister with the magistrate, some misunderstanding in the court room were created and that was resolved, Moni said.Magistrate Zahidul Kabir was not available for comment, but his bench clerk Sahadat Hossain said some tensions were created in the court room during the running trial in the court.Related sources said case and counter case lodged in connection of clashes between the followers of AL lawmaker Moni and JSD leader Uzirpur upazila parishad chairman Abul Kalam Azad Badal that took place on May 28 at Uzirpur upazila parishad.Moni was trying to get favour about the cases using name of the law minister but he knocked the wrong court, sources added. -Our Correspondent
